What's With The Name?

Cantamar is a Spanish word that translates "singing sea". When we started Cantamar Publishing in 1992, we lived near the Pacific Ocean in southern California, so incorporating the Spanish heritage of the sea and our love for God's beautiful ocean seemed like a natural fit. In our company name we celebrate the glory of our Father, and express His desire that everyone praise Him.

Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth
Burst into songs and praise.
Make music to the Lord with harps,
with harps and the sound of singing.
Blow the trumpets and the sheep's horns.
Shout for joy to the Lord the King
Let the sea and everything in it shout.
Let the world and everyone on it sing
Let the rivers clap their hands.

We've moved to Georgia since then, but remain dedicated to our original mission of creating dynamic teaching materials for churches, preschools and families.

We know that not all teachers are the same, just as children are all different. For this reason our materials are filled with choices intented to inspire and challenge teachers so that they can communicate exciting spiritual truths to children.

Our Statement of Faith

We are not associated with any denomination. We encourage diversity of expression in worship within the bounderies of sound Biblical teaching and practices.

• We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, authoritive Word of God.
• We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three persons - The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
• We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory.
• We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
• We believe in the resurrection of both saved and the lost...the saved to the resurrection of life and the lost to the resurrection of damnation.
• We believe in the spritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
